Can Hurricane Juicer Juice Leafy Greens Like Kale?

How well does the Hurricane Manual Stainless Steel Juicer do on leafy greens like kale? I have a Green Life twin gear juicer but don't use it much.
I'm looking for a simple juicer to juice a small amount everyday. I plan to juice leafy greens, wheatgrass, cucumber, celery, ginger and beet (occasionally), also would like to try pomegranate seeds. Have you tried them? They have great taste and nutrition.
I also want a juicer that is easy to clean and the stainless steel of the Hurricane sounds better than having plastic augers, etc. in contact with vegetables/juice.
Thanks in advance and may you have good health always... Tom
Eryn's Reply: The Hurricane Manual Stainless Steel Juicer can certainly do a fine job juicing a variety of fruits and vegetables. I went out and bought all the vegees you inquired about and the Hurricane juicer did an overall great job.
The ginger was able to be juiced just fine and it gave the juice an added "zing!"
With the kale, there is very little juice produced from a rather large leaf of kale because this leafy green does not contain a lot of juice to begin with. I like to blend kale in the blender. You know, add water, blend it up, and then strain it. I then like to add some apple juice and it is great. I think blending captures the juice of kale best.
The Hurricane masticating juicer does a far better job than the centrifugal juicer at juicing the kale. Personally, I like the blended method best for kale. Also, seems like less of the kale goes to waste that way. But again, if you want to use the Hurricane Juicer for the kale, it works quite well extracting its juice.
I happened to have pomegranates growing in my backyard, though they are not quite ripe. I just took the "shell" or skin off the pomegranate and juiced up its inner seeds. The pulp from the pomegranate is still quite moist, kind of like a puree. Despite the moist pulp, the Hurricane juicer still produced about 40% more juice than my centrifugal juicer and that was without rejuicing the pulp in the Hurricane.
The pulp from the cucumber also came out quite moist. With the cucumber, I would say about 20% less juice was produced with the Hurricane Juicer versus a centrifugal juicer. And that was after putting that moist cucumber pulp through the Hurricane juicer again.
The beets were juiced quite nicely. I will have to do the beet test later, to compare beets juiced with the Hurricane masticating juicer versus with the centrifugal juicer.
Remember to slide in your screen part when juicing those vegees and fruits with more "liquid" inside.
Overall Tom, the Hurricane juicer really shines at juicing the leafy greens and of course the wheatgrass and barley grass. But I continue to be impressed with how well the Hurricane performs with other fruits and vegetables too. Seems like one would like to have a Hurricane masticating juicer and a centrifugal juicer to optimally juice all of the different fruits and vegetables.
Finally, yes I love the fact that the Hurricane is made of stainless steel. With the juicers with white plastic parts, unfortunately it is harder to keep the plastic clean and white. They do show the stains from the juices more easily. The Hurricane juicer is very easy to clean and the stainless steel does not absorb the color or appear stained from the vegetable juices. It always stays the same in appearance - just shiny attractive stainless steel.
Just as I show you how easy it is to assemble the juicer in my
Hurricane video demonstration, well just reverse those steps to take it apart. It is a very quick process to take it apart to clean. Probably the most time consuming aspect of cleaning it is unattaching it from your counter and then reattaching it again. I just quickly rinse off the few parts with soapy water, sometimes use a little round brush in the main "vessel," dry off the parts, and put the juicer back together. The whole clean up and re-setup process takes about 3 minutes - I even timed it!
If you order the
Hurricane Juicer through Amazon

you will love its many juicing capabilities, easy ability to clean, beauty, and high quality durability.
