Test Results of Azomite Fertilizer on Wheatgrass Juice Flavor and Smell

This wheatgrass juice flavor post is a new thread from a discussion of wheatgrass flavor here.
Alright, I did my wheatgrass taste experiment with the Azomite fertilizer. I used my two black trays to grow the wheatgrass.
I placed 1/4 cup of Azomite in my one 21" X 11" black growing tray. I used a good natural and organic planting mix for growing my wheatgrass in each tray.
You can buy the Azomite easily at Amazon:
Note the dark rich color of the soil which indicates its improved nutrient profile.
After the seeds sprouted in each of the wheatgrass growing trays, about day 3-4, I placed the trays outside to further their growth.
Normajean, I do believe having the wheatgrass outside could also contribute to a better tasting wheatgrass juice.

I had nice growth with both the No Azomite and With the Azomite. The blades were a nice darker shade of green with both batches. The blades of grass look a little lighter here, than in reality, because of the bright sun.
The wheatgrass looks a little smashed down in the photo because the water pressure of my hose was a little too heavy outside - oops!
I had 2 family members, besides myself, judge the taste of the wheatgrass juice- 3 people voting.
Additionally, the wheatgrass juice was tested on its smell. For my 2 family members, it was a blind taste test. They did not know which batch of wheatgrass juice they were smelling or tasting. I knew which grass I was tasting and smelling.
At home test results of Azomite versus No Azomite on Wheatgrass Juice:Smell - Two people voted in favor of the Azomite added to soil and its wheatgrass juice batch for having a more
mild smell as compared to the No Azomite added to soil batch of wheatgrass juice. One person said they could not tell a difference in the smell of either batch of wheatgrass juice. I was one of the people that voted for the Azomite added wheatgrass juice as being a
definitly more
mild smelling wheatgrass.
In my family, I am known to have a good olfactory system. It was very clear that the wheatgrass juice smelled much "less grassy" than the wheatgrass grown
without the Azomite. I found that to be quite interesting!
Taste - Results for, "Is the wheatgrass juice flavor sweeter with the Azomite added to the soil," were 2 "barely" yes votes - the wheatgrass juice tasted just the
slightest bit sweeter. There was one vote for not being able to detect
any difference in wheatgrass juice flavor between the Azomite added to soil of growing wheatgrass and the No Azomite added to wheatgrass growing soil. So basically, perhaps there was just the
slightest difference in sweetness taste with the Azomite added to the soil - if any at all.
So there you have it. What did I learn? Well, again I believe placing the wheatgrass outside sweetens up the flavor. If I am looking to improve the flavor of my wheatgrass juice, I don't think I would add Azomite as a way to achieve that. However, if I have a real poor quality soil, I might give the Azomite a try to sweeten things up a bit.
I know Azomite is an excellent wheatgrass fertilizer though, and I will continue to use it to add further minerals into my soil when I desire. Just because my wheatgrass juice did not taste much sweeter with the Azomite, that does not take away from the value of its adding trace minerals to my soil.
I know the Azomite definitely positively impacts the health of my soil and thus my wheatgrass. I always have more healthy looking batches of wheatgrass continue to grow in after my initial harvesting, batches that grow in with coloring that still looks good. My batches of growing wheatgrass after initial cutting or havesting, without Azomite, do not maintain their nice coloring as long as the wheatgrass grown in Azomite added soil.
Weather permitting, I will continue to place my trays of wheatgrass outside when I can, as I know there are additional benefits to exposing my blades of grass to the fresh outdoors.
Please feel free to add on to this thread with your own wheatgrass growing taste tests, as we can all learn together.
Thank you again Normajean for sharing your
personal experiences and ideas regarding wheatgrass flavor.
Have fun and Bottom's Up!
