Which Kind Of Wheat Grass Seed Should I Buy?

I recently bought some wheat grass trays already grown from a local grocery store, but was dismayed to find mold growing on the stems.

I did a bit of searching and found they were planted too close together and had a poor air flow.

I am now interested in buying some wheat grass seed and growing it myself. Where should I buy it from and should I buy red wheatgrass seed or barley grass seed?

It would also be helpful if you know of a way to rid mold from wheatgrass without planting new seed.

Finally, is it possible to 'spread out' the plants once grown?

Eryn's Reply: You can buy excellent organic red wheat grass seed from my wheatgrass growing supplies Amazon store. You can also buy organic barley grass seed there.

Both health promoting wheatgrass juice and health building barley grass juice are true super foods. You can enjoy growing both to experiment and decide which juice flavor you prefer. Wheatgrass juice is more popular, however, barley grass is known to be especially nutritious too.

Yes, if there is not ample circulation, that can cause more mold in your wheatgrass. Here is my page on how to decrease mold.

I think it would be quite a lot of work to try to somehow "spread out" your grown wheatgrass to increase air flow. Hopefully, the reducing mold on wheatgrass page will help you out.

When you grow your own wheatgrass you can experiment with the amount of seeds you place in your growing tray. You will find that with less seeds, their will be increased natural air flow between the blades of grass, and therefore less mold.
